Complete closure of the L579 in Boxberg: diversions and traffic jams until the end of 2025!

From today, June 30, 2025, drivers in the Boxberg region will have to accept significant traffic restrictions. The L579 will be completely closed from 10:00 p.m. until December 31, 2025. This is due to urgent replacement bridge construction and line work that needs to be carried out on a 368 meter stretch between Unterschüpf and Kupprichhausen. All road users traveling in and around the Main-Tauber district must expect this closure.

The full closure affects the route from the junction of the L579 and the B292 near Unterschüpf to the junction of the L578 and the L579 in Kupprichhausen. Drivers must be prepared for slow traffic and possible congestion. Diversions have been set up for cars and trucks that need to avoid the construction site. For cars, the diversion is as follows: Sachsenstrasse – Becksteiner Strasse – Oberlaudaer Strasse – An der Steinklinge – Schulstrasse – Brunnenstrasse – Heckfelder Strasse – Wehrstrasse – Mühlbergstrasse. This diversion has an additional travel time of approximately 17 minutes over a length of 12.5 kilometers. For trucks, a diversion via Unterschüpfer Straße and other local roads is recommended, which means a detour of 18 kilometers and around 23 minutes of additional travel time.

Current construction site situation in Germany

The full closure in Boxberg is just one of many projects currently being carried out in Germany. According to rbb24, various motorway sections in Berlin are also affected by closures. For example, restrictions are to be expected on the A 100 between Detmolder Straße and possibly also in other areas of the city ring. These construction sites, including closures due to bridge work, are also causing traffic disruptions and delays for motorists.

Traffic statistics and infrastructure

For a more comprehensive overview of the traffic situation in Germany, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure offers a carefully prepared standard work. “Traffic in Numbers” has been providing a comprehensive insight into mobility and traffic for over 50 years. The compendium includes statistics on infrastructure, daily mobility behavior and emissions, which is particularly important as the impact of transport on the environment is increasingly highlighted.

In summary, drivers in the Boxberg region must expect significant traffic restrictions from today. While the constant growth and renewal of infrastructure is a necessity, it is essential that all road users prepare well to avoid unnecessary delays.
