Two new Michelin stars for Lower Franconia: Mizar and La Boucherie!

On Tuesday evening the event took place again in FrankfurtGuide MICHELINpresented for Germany, and the gastronomy scene is really excited. A total of 341 restaurants can look forward to a Michelin star, which is the highest number of starred restaurants since the guide was founded. The two new additions in Lower Franconia are particularly pleased about this: “MiZAR” in Würzburg and “La Boucherie” in Kreuzwertheim, both of which were awarded a star for the first time. This honor underlines the high gastronomic standard of the region and makes the hearts of gourmets beat faster. As the Mainpost reports, this is a very special moment for the two restaurants that have been able to assert themselves in this highly competitive industry.

The new edition of the guide, which will be available in stores at the end of July, highlights that Germany is showing a clear trend towards plant-based cuisine and the use of regional and seasonal ingredients. These developments can not only be found in the kitchens of the new star winners, but also throughout the country's entire gastronomy. Day ticket points out that a total of 80 Green Stars were awarded for sustainable gastronomy, which underlines the importance of environmental protection when preparing food.

The new stars in detail

This year's presentation was eagerly awaited, because in addition to the new stars, there are also some innovations in the rating structure. The growth at the 3-star level is particularly noteworthy: with “Haerlin” in Hamburg and “Tohru” in the Schreiberei in Munich, there are now a total of 12 restaurants in Germany that have been honored with the highest award. These gains are the first of their kind after a long dry spell in 2008.

  • 3-Sterne-Restaurants:
    • Haerlin, Hamburg
    • Tohru, München
  • 2-Sterne-Restaurants: 47 insgesamt, 5 neu
  • 1-Stern-Restaurants: 282 insgesamt, 30 neu

Listed below are 15 new Bib Gourmand restaurants that place a particular focus on good food at fair prices. Germany now has a total of 156 of these excellent places, and many guests should take advantage of the unique opportunity to discover these culinary treasures.

The regions at a glance

The star distributions in the federal states are particularly interesting. North Rhine-Westphalia remains the best-rated region with 46 star restaurants, although unfortunately 10 restaurants have lost their star. In Bavaria, however, three restaurants with three stars set new standards, while Hamburg boasts two three-star restaurants. Restaurant rankings highlights that Saxony-Anhalt now also has a 2-star restaurant, the Pietsch in Wernigerode. The range of restaurants on offer is becoming increasingly diverse and regional.

So things remain exciting in Germany’s gastronomy scene. With the new stars and the focus on sustainability and regionality, the coming years could be a huge culinary celebration.
