Adler Mannheim signs ice hockey star Dan Renouf – a year full of excitement!

The Adler Mannheim recently signed a new defender, Dan Renouf. The 31-year-old Canadian has an impressive career that includes over 550 games in the American Hockey League (AHL). He collected 140 scorer points, which makes him a solid player who has already made a big impression on coach Dallas Eakins with his leadership qualities and determination. Renouf replaces the players left out of the 2025/26 squad and complements Mannheim's defense as it prepares for next season.

What makes Dan Renouf special? The defender has not only attracted attention in the AHL, but also as a youth player for the Youngstown Phantoms in the United States Hockey League. There he was instrumental in his team's progress to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2012-13 season. After completing his college career with the Maine Black Bears, he signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Detroit Red Wings, which ultimately led him to his NHL debut. Renouf played a total of 24 games in the NHL for Detroit, Colorado and Boston.

Renouf's beginnings and successes

Born on June 1, 1994, Renouf began his professional career in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins, a Red Wings team. His career is characterized by constant developments, so he signed several contracts over the course of his career, most recently with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins before landing in Mannheim. The recent 2025 Ice Hockey World Championships are giving the sporting environment additional impetus, and now Germany ice hockey is on the rise. Sport is very important to 4.9 million Germans, and the enthusiasm for the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) is clearly noticeable after the successful seasons so far.

The Adler Mannheim, who are at the top of the all-time DEL table, have brought in Renouf, a player who can strengthen the team dynamic. The club leads the attendance statistics and enthusiasm for the games is growing - not least thanks to the success of the German national team, which took seventh place at the last World Cup.

The future of Adler Mannheim

Renouf has already expressed his excitement for Mannheim and the club's traditional fan culture. The Eagles continue to have ambitious goals: Participation in the DEL should be a complete success, and with a solid squad with talents like Tobias Fohrler, Nathan Renouf, Tom Kühnhackl and others, they want to achieve great things. While spectators were thrilled last season with an average of 7,800 per game, expectations for the new season are correspondingly high.

With this commitment, ADLER Mannheim is sending a signal of strength and showing that they are prepared for the challenges ahead. Amid increasing enthusiasm and success in German ice hockey, it remains to be seen how the season will develop and what other surprises it has in store.
