Girls' Day 2025: Discover the future for girls in IT and digitalization!
What is happening at universities in Germany when it comes to promoting women in technical professions? A look at the University of Mannheim shows that they are actively working to get more girls interested in IT careers. Girls' Day will take place at the university on April 3, 2025, an event aimed specifically at schoolgirls and introducing them to the fascinating world of computer science. The events are diverse: For example, participants are trained to become AI trainers and learn about the algorithms behind popular social networks. And very important: Registration for one of the four program areas is not only required, but also a great opportunity to get to know campus life.
Beyond Girls’ Day
But that's not all: there are similar efforts at the University of Bamberg. Since the founding of the WIAI Faculty (Business Informatics, Applied Computer Science and Mathematics), a lot has been done to promote women in computer science. Prof. Dr. Ute Schmid, the faculty's equal opportunities officer, emphasizes that special offers have been continuously developed for female and male students since 2005 in order to get them interested in technical careers. Diversity in computer science is very important at both universities.
