Serious accident in Dürmentingen: boy hit on zebra crossing!

On Monday morning, a serious traffic accident occurred in Dürmentingen, more precisely in the Heudorf district, which startled the residents. At around 6:45 a.m., a 13-year-old boy who was crossing Dürmentinger Straße from left to right on a pedestrian crossing was hit by a car. The 43-year-old driver of an Opel noticed the boy too late, despite attempting to swerve, which led to a head-on collision.

The force of the impact threw the boy onto the street where he unfortunately sustained injuries. He was immediately taken to a clinic to receive treatment. The Riedlingen police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident and emphasized how important it is for drivers and pedestrians to exercise particular caution at zebra crossings. The damage to the vehicle is estimated at around 300 euros and criminal proceedings have been initiated against the driver.

Safety at the zebra crossing

This incident is a reminder of the importance of being alert on the road. It is crucial to always drive with foresight, especially at zebra crossings where there are many children. The police ask people to drive slowly, especially in residential areas, and to watch out for pedestrians. The accident tragically demonstrated that a moment of carelessness can have serious consequences.

In view of this situation, one can only repeatedly plead for more sensitivity in road traffic. A small moment of distraction can have fatal consequences and therefore all road users should take responsibility.

Despite the technology and safety measures available today, it remains essential that drivers and pedestrians work together to ensure safe conditions.

Residents are shocked and hope that such accidents can be prevented in the future. It remains to be hoped that the boy will get back on his feet soon and that this incident will serve as a reminder to be more careful in traffic.
