Disappointment in Albstadt: Hossinger Leiter” only came seventh in the election!

What's going on in Albstadt? This year the city is not only celebrating its 50th birthday, but also a special anniversary of its beautiful eaves, which are now 15 years old. The perfect opportunity for the city to secure a title that many hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers appreciate: “Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail”. Mayor Roland Tralmer and the head of the cultural department, Martin Roscher, had high hopes for the readers' choice of the hiking magazine, but this time's vote brought a surprise.

With over 46,000 participants, more than 67,000 votes were cast in the day tours and multi-day tours categories. The “Hossinger Leiter” eaves corridor, which was nominated in the day tour category, only came in 7th place. Martin Roscher expressed disappointment with the result, as this route is known for its magnificent views and prehistoric buildings. It's a shame, because the “Hossingerleiter” received at least 3,025 votes, which didn't quite live up to the success of last year's winners.

The result in detail

This year, the title of “Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail” went to the Caspar-David-Friedrich-Weg, which collected an impressive 6,033 votes. Second and third place went to the Heideschleife Büsenbachtal with 4,743 votes and the Hunolsteiner Klammtour with 4,717 votes. Two other hiking trails from Baden-Württemberg also made it into the top ten: The Bernauer Hochtal Steig reached fourth place, while the gorge duo in the Nagoldtal took eighth place.

A little ray of hope

Despite the disappointment of finishing 7th, the “Hossinger Ladder” can still be proud of being named the most beautiful hiking trail in the Swabian Alb. This shows that the region not only offers beautiful landscapes, but also a lively hiking culture. In addition, the “Hangende Stein”, which is part of the Zollernburg Panorama, was recently recognized as a UNESCO geopoint and is therefore another highlight of the region.

The hiking trails were nominated by a jury made up of hiking experts and influencers. The vote took place from March to the end of June and was the 19th of its kind. Particularly exciting: the “ Zollernburg Panorama ” eaves walkway reached second place in 2011, which underlines the competitiveness of the region.

The discussion about the beauty of the trails and competition also brings into play the importance of hiking infrastructure and promoting tourism in the region. While the “Hossinger Ladder” narrowly missed the title, it remains a fixture for many hiking enthusiasts and a real insider tip in the Swabian Alb.
