Alligators in crisis: After bankruptcy against Weinheim, optimism is gone!
The Alligators from Albstadt are currently facing a crucial phase in the district league. However, after a promising start following their promotion, the mood has changed. Most recently, the Alligators suffered a tough defeat against the Weinheim Longhorns 0:47. Despite all this, coach Markus Lohr remains optimistic about the fight for second place, especially considering their next games, which could offer the chance to turn the current season around.
After another disappointing performance against the Pforzheim Wilddogs 2, in which the Alligators were only able to score six points and lost 6:21, they slipped to fourth place in the rankings. They currently have a record of four wins and three defeats. The head-to-head competition for the top places is getting more exciting because there are still three games on the program: The matches against Weinheim (on July 26th), Aalen (on August 9th) and Kuchen Mammuts (on August 30th) could make the difference between success and failure.
The competition never sleeps
Things are going much better for the Pforzheim Wilddogs in the same league. They finished the first half of the season in the 3rd League Southwest with an impressive record of 6:0 and proved their strength in the top game against the Weinheim Longhorns, which they won 36:23. In this heated duel, in which the temperatures rose above 30 degrees and around 70 fans supported the Wilddogs, they showed themselves to be a real fighting team.
Particularly noteworthy was the performance of Jermaine Saunders, who secured an interception shortly before the end of the game, and Felix Dorn, who contributed the decisive points. Weinheim started strong with a touchdown by Jürgen Kolodziej, but the Wilddogs immediately countered and took the lead through quarterback Ryan Stroud. A 90-yard kickoff return touchdown by Adam Redden helped Pforzheim pull ahead 23-15 at halftime. Nevertheless, the game was exciting until the end, as Weinheim came back several times before the Wilddogs finally got the upper hand.
Challenges for the Balingen Bucks
The Balingen Bucks are currently having a difficult time in the district league. After a promising start to the season with a win, they suffered painful defeats in the following five games. Most recently they suffered a narrow defeat against the Reutlingen Eagles 2, which they lost 6:12. The Bucks are currently at the bottom of the table and have to prove themselves against the league leaders Heilbronn Miners. The first leg against the Miners ended with a sobering 44-0 for Heilbronn.
The coming weeks will be crucial for the Alligators and the Bucks. While the Alligators have a chance to move up in the standings, the Bucks face a challenge to compete against the best teams in the league. It remains exciting - things can happen quickly in the world of football, and perhaps the next game will be the turning point for the Albstädter or the Balingen Bucks.
