Ravensburger Stadtlauf: Hot temperatures and exciting relays!

The 34th Ravensburger City Run took place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, under the scorching sun. In temperatures of over 30 degrees, numerous runners took to the track in Ravensburg's old town. The scheduled starts in the afternoon hours in particular had their pitfalls, as the spectacle with the popular children's runs began as early as 4 p.m. Over 300 school relay teams with around 1,300 participating students took part, which created a happy but also chaotic scene, especially when parents had to bring their children to the various starting points. Thanks to the active support of parents and marshals, the little athletes were loudly cheered on.

Despite some confusion about the starting points, the atmosphere was convincing and several relay batons even found space on the ground during the hectic start. Parents reported positive experiences after the relay races. The opportunity to cool one's feet in the refreshing streams of the old town was actively used, while the queues in front of the ice cream parlors were long.

Running in the shadows

Adult participants only started in the evening, when it was a little cooler in the shady streets of the old town. The main 10 kilometer run started at 7.30 p.m. The route, which started at Marienplatz and stretched along Bachstrasse, Untertor and the old town alleys to the Frauentor, was prepared with a lot of commitment by the youth fire department. To provide runners with refreshment during the holy race, two mist showers were set up.

The route was quickly cordoned off with around 300 barriers set up, which increased the safety of the participants. The atmosphere was palpable, thanks to the musical accompaniment from live bands and DJs at various stations. The offer included not only the classic running categories such as floor and relay teams, but also a free massage offer after the main run, which was provided by the Kiedaisch Physiotherapy School.

Organization and logistics

The event was organized by the city of Ravensburg, the Ravensburg Sports Association and the Pro Ravensburg Economic Forum. A particularly important point for all traffic sufferers was the information about the road closures: Central streets in the city center were closed to traffic from 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Residents were asked to park their vehicles outside the event area, which ensured everything ran smoothly.

With regard to the numbers, an analysis shows that events like the Ravensburger Stadtlauf generate a lot of interest. According to statistics from the running market database, runs with more than 1,000 participants are particularly popular. With optimal organization, it has once again been proven that participation in such events increases from year to year. Previous statistics have already made it clear that the corona pandemic has left its mark, but the return to normality is also noticeable in Ravensburg, which is impressively demonstrated by the large number of participants.
