Shock in Tübingen: Lawyer kidnapped in parking lot – witnesses urgently wanted!
On April 19, 2025, an incident occurred in Tübingen that was covered in the ZDF program “Aktenzeichen XY Unsolved”. What initially looked like a normal purchase ended with a dramatic kidnapping in the parking lot of a Rewe store. The perpetrator, a masked man, threatened a 68-year-old lawyer with a knife, tied her up and then locked her in the trunk of her own vehicle. This meant that he not only had control over the situation, but also over the woman's living conditions
.
The kidnapper stole 1,000 euros after extorting the PIN from her debit card. He withdrew the money from an ATM in Derendingen before heading off in an unknown direction. Interestingly, the kidnapping did not go unnoticed for long. After about 20 minutes, the woman managed to free herself and open the trunk while passers-by rushed to her aid. The perpetrator fled on foot in the direction of Steinlach, while leaving important evidence behind, including a backpack from Tübingen Stadtwerke and other personal items.
The search for clues
Since then, the police have relied on clues and are investigating a potential connection between the perpetrator and the municipal utilities: He may have been a former employee. Several callers have identified the man from a phantom photo, and the reward for helpful information has even been increased. Investigators hope that further clues can provide the crucial pieces of the puzzle in this investigation.
Statistically speaking, the picture of crime in Germany is difficult. The police crime statistics (PKS) report a decline in all crimes by 1.7% to around 5.84 million in 2024. The decline is largely due to the partial legalization of cannabis. Despite this positive development, many people feel a growing feeling of insecurity in their everyday lives, due to the increase in property and forgery crimes as well as other crimes that can have a serious impact on the feeling of security. The most common crimes relate in particular to theft and property crimes.
Summary
The Tübingen kidnapping is not just a depressing isolated case, but is part of a complex picture of crime in Germany. While the overall numbers in police statistics are declining, the actual perception of security remains a challenge for many citizens. The clearance rate in 2024 was 58%, which means that not all crimes can ultimately be solved. Conclusions about the psyche of society cannot be avoided here: crime has many faces and insecurity remains a present theme.
