Brühl becomes a bridge to India: trade opportunities for the region!

On November 2nd, 2025, the mayor of Brühl, Dr. Ralf Göck, the Indian Consul General Shatrughna Sinha in the town hall. This reception marks a further step in the positive development of relations between Germany and India. Dr. Göck is particularly pleased about the opportunity to intensify cooperation with India. The “Brühler Task Force India” was therefore launched in the summer to create concrete contacts for promoting economic cooperation.

India, with a population of 1.5 billion people, is increasingly seen as an important market for German products. Germany is currently India's largest trading partner within the EU. This not only underlines the economic interests of both countries, but also the need to further expand trade relations. There are negotiations on a free trade agreement that could further consolidate this cooperation.

Economic prospects

A local company that is doing pioneering work here is HIMA. This largest company in Brühl has already opened a branch in India to offer security solutions. In addition, HIMA is committed to training security professionals in India through partnerships with local educational institutions. This shows that Brühl is not only interested in economic cooperation, but also in a sustainable exchange of knowledge and skills.

Axel Angeli, a management strategy consultant with extensive business relationships in India, supports the Indian Electronic and Software Export Promotion Council and thus contributes to networking. Nazir Jalali, an entrepreneur from Brühl, has also successfully founded several companies in Mannheim, which proves the entrepreneurial diversity and innovative strength of the region.

Cultural exchange and joint events

Mayor Göck is also planning an “India Evening” at HIMA to introduce other companies to the possibilities and opportunities of cooperation with India. During his visit, Consul General Sinha emphasized the similarities between the two countries, despite their cultural differences. He sees the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region in particular as a potential partner for economic cooperation.

Another focus is on the possible production of HIMA in India, which could further strengthen the potential economic link. The positive mood of this event was underlined by the cutting of a “Brühler cake” as a symbol of the burgeoning cooperation between the two nations.

The collaboration between Brühl and India is just beginning, but with the right commitment and strategic thinking it could lead to a fruitful partnership from which both sides could benefit. With such an interesting focus, Brühl is well positioned to play an important role as a link between two cultures.
