Miramar adventure pool in Weinheim: finally open again after fire!

There is great joy because the “Miramar” adventure pool in Weinheim is celebrating its reopening after a long and painful reconstruction process. As managing director Lara Steinhart reports, the pool opened on June 16, 2025 after more than six months of shutdown. This reopening has already been postponed several times because the damage caused by the fire in December 2024 was greater than initially estimated. In total, the damages amounted to over 20 million euros, which was significantly higher than the original estimates, reported voice.de.

In advance of the reopening, the sanitary area and the central changing room were completely renovated and made barrier-free. A new social area for families with a changing room ensures that even the little ones don't miss out. The entrance area was also modernized. The adventure pool and sauna area now shine in new splendor and have been extensively modernized. Additionally, acoustic silencers were installed on the ceiling to reduce noise levels for guests. The sauna world will officially reopen on July 4, 2025 with a big welcome back party.

However, the thermal baths area currently remains closed as it was completely destroyed in the fire. The reopening of this area is planned for the end of 2025 and will take into account the existing structures - parts of the original building, such as the floor slab, will be reused. To ensure that the new “Miramar” continues to do good business in the future, additional investments of 1.8 million euros will be made in the redesign of the slide tower before the reopening.

Despite these challenges, Steinhart remains optimistic. The ticket prices remain unchanged, which means that a day ticket for children (2-6 years) costs 8.90 euros, for children and young people (7-15 years) 22.90 euros and for adults (16 years and older) 29.90 euros. The sauna ticket prices drop by 5 euros as long as the thermal baths cannot be used. All vouchers purchased before the fire remain valid, which is positive news for many visitors.

Finally, it is important to also consider the fire protection measures, which are of central importance in an adventure pool. The safety requirements in theme parks as described in the article by feuertrutz.de are treated are crucial. It must be ensured that in the event of a fire, the safety of the guests has the highest priority and that necessary self-rescue measures are integrated into the planning.

The Miramar is a popular destination, attracting up to 700,000 visitors annually. The challenges that the fire brought with it are enormous, but the anticipation of the upcoming experiences in the newly designed bathroom is palpable. The return of the Miramar is not only a win for guests, but also an important economic signal for the region.
