Pastor Jörg Hirsch: Farewell service in Mannheim on June 29th!

There will soon be reason to celebrate in Mannheim: On June 29, 2025, the Trinity congregation will say goodbye to its pastor Jörg Hirsch in his well-deserved retirement. After four years of service in the community of Sandhofen, he takes stock and describes his time there as a crowning conclusion to his active career. How MRN News reports, Dean Ralph Hartmann will lead the official farewell service, which begins at 3 p.m. But that's not all.

On the morning of the same day, more precisely at 10 a.m., there will be a baptism ceremony at the pond in Sandhofen. It begins with a child-friendly service, accompanied by the music of the vocal and guitar duo “Father and Son” (Reiner and Florian Herbon). The baptisms themselves will take place on and in the water of the Wilhelmswörthweiher, which is certainly an emotional highlight for everyone involved.

The future of the community

The successor to Pastor Hirsch will not be appointed directly, which means that the North cooperation region will in future be led by Pastors Nora Keller and Rebekka Langpape as well as Deaconess Maria Brekle. It remains exciting to see how community life will develop without the long-time pastor.

But there is also a lot going on in the church landscape beyond Mannheim. The Emmaus Church regularly invites you to a monthly evening service, which is characterized by a variety of topics and a sociable atmosphere. The next service will take place on July 20th with the theme “Fortunately!” with Grace Lee on the piano, followed by further varied evenings until autumn. The musical support from artists and choirs always ensures a festive atmosphere. There are always short speeches or creative impulses that make you think. After each service, participants often come together over tea or an Aperol Spritz to end the evening in a convivial manner. Details can be found on the EKMA website, which provides information about various events: nord.ekma.de.

Variety of events

If you would like to delve even deeper into what is happening in the churches, you can use the EKBO events calendar, which offers a wide range of services and events in the region. Those interested can search specifically for events or simply get inspiration. Ideal for those who want to think outside the box and use the geographical area search option to discover exciting events in their area: ekbo-termine.de.

In the time of change in Mannheim and beyond, it should be noted that community life remains characterized by humanity, community and a portion of joy. It will be interesting to see how the coming months develop and what new impulses will come from the Trinity Parish and the Emmaus Church. There's a certain air of excitement in the air!
