Shock in Bammental: Two cars collide at an intersection!

Yesterday evening, October 18, 2025, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of the L600 and the B45 in Bammental, which is in the Rhein-Neckar district, around 8:30 p.m. The police and emergency services had to intervene quickly in the collision between two cars. According to Metropol Journal the first hit Rescue workers arrived at the scene of the accident a short time later.

However, there is currently no reliable information about the number of injured or the exact circumstances of the incident. The police have started an investigation and are asking drivers to avoid the area and follow the instructions of emergency services while the intersection area is partially closed and traffic is being diverted.

Serious accident in February

Not far from the current accident site, a serious accident occurred on February 23, 2021 at the same junction of the L600 and the B45. A truck and a silver VW were involved, both of which stopped at a red light. When the traffic light turned green, the VW first turned right, but then returned to the B45 and collided with the truck. The driver of the VW was seriously injured in the head, while the truck driver only suffered minor injuries and was treated on site [Heidelberg24]. The material damage was estimated at several thousand euros, and the B45 was completely closed for a short time.

In connection with such accidents, the ADAC accident research, which has been analyzing serious traffic accidents in Germany since 2005, has interesting findings to share. According to ADAC, over 85% of traffic accidents result in serious or fatal injuries. Country roads are particularly dangerous; 57% of those killed and 39% of those seriously injured come from these areas.

Accident research shows that a large number of accidents occur when turning, entering or crossing, which accounts for almost 25% of total traffic accidents. Against this background, the recent accident in Bammental is another dangerous example of how quickly incidents can occur on our roads.

The ADAC is continuously working to improve road safety, including through recommendations on how to avoid accidents. The issue of road safety remains of utmost importance in times of increasing accident numbers and diverse traffic scenarios, especially for emergency services who have to react quickly and effectively to accidents.
