A serious traffic accident turned federal highway 291 near Schwetzingen in the Rhein-Neckar district into chaos this morning. Shortly after 8 a.m., a 31-year-old driver drove her VW into the opposite lane for reasons that are still unclear and collided head-on with two oncoming vehicles - an Opel, driven by a 60-year-old man, and an Audi, whose driver is 64 years old. A total of four people were injured in this serious collision, with the young driver suffering serious but not life-threatening injuries. According to a report by the South German newspaper The passenger of the Opel driver and the Audi driver also did not escape unscathed with minor injuries.

The rescue workers were quickly deployed at the scene of the accident. A rescue helicopter transported the seriously injured driver to a nearby hospital, while the other victims were also taken to hospital, but only on an outpatient basis. What is particularly pleasing is the news that the two dogs in the 31-year-old's vehicle were uninjured and were safely handed over to their relatives. The accident vehicles were significantly damaged, so the total damage is estimated at around 160,000 euros.

The exact circumstances that led to this serious accident are currently unclear. The police have not yet been able to make any conclusive statements and have started an investigation.
