Winter weather in Baden-Württemberg: sun, fog and slippery conditions are approaching!

The winter sun is at its best in Baden-Württemberg today, but thick fog in the lowlands poses a particular challenge. According to information from rnz.de The weather becomes noticeably milder as the day progresses and is ideal for a trip outdoors, as long as you don't spend time in foggy areas.

The forecasts of the German Weather Service ( DWD ) show that the sun will prevail in many regions, while stubborn high fog could linger in parts of the southern Upper Rhine Graben and other lowlands. In areas with clear skies, the thermometer climbs to +5 degrees, while in foggy regions temperatures stagnate at a maximum of -2 degrees.

Frost and slippery conditions are approaching

As the DWD further reports, heavy frost is to be expected on Monday night. Temperatures could drop to a shocking -12 degrees and there could also be a risk of slippery conditions due to frost or freezing wet conditions. Dense fog is expected particularly in Upper Swabia and along the Rhine, where visibility can be reduced to less than 150 meters.

On Monday, the first day of the new year, excursionists must be prepared for the fog to moderately clear. In Upper Swabia it could remain cloudy all day, while milder temperatures of up to +3 degrees are expected in other areas - especially in higher altitudes or sunny areas. The wind turns to a westerly to northwesterly direction and allows the cold air to subside somewhat.

Weather trend in the coming days

The weather situation will remain tense until Wednesday. An increase in cloud cover is expected on Tuesday night, accompanied by a possibility of some snow, which may cause local slippery conditions, especially in the lowlands. The minimum temperatures then range between -2 and -8 degrees, although in places it can even reach -10 degrees.

On Wednesday, also known as New Year's Eve, the weather continues to be exciting. While the northern regions can expect cloudy skies and possible light snowfall, people in the southern half can expect lots of sun and temperatures of up to +3 degrees. The wind will then be weak to moderate from westerly directions and will bring fresh gusts to the higher elevations.

For the coming nights, citizens will have to prepare for changeable conditions, with temperatures down to -7 degrees in the coldest regions and a risk of slippery conditions locally. For anyone who wants to celebrate the New Year outdoors, it is important to keep an eye on the weather, as winter conditions require caution.

In summary: Winter fans can look forward to sunshine, but should be well prepared when heading into the cold and foggy climes. Stay healthy and enjoy the winter landscape to the fullest!
