Young people shape the future: Student mentors implement creative projects!

In an exciting initiative, around 23 young people from the AMG, DHG and LG high schools came together in rooms under the castle to take part in a two-day student mentor training. This event, which was led by the Association of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ), aims to prepare the young participants as best as possible for their future role as student mentors and youth companions. NRWZ reports that ...

During the training, the young people experienced a variety of workshops in which they learned essential skills such as communication, group leadership and conflict resolution. Practical work was an essential part of the program. In small groups, the young people developed creative project ideas for their schools that they would like to implement in the coming period.

Diverse project ideas for the school community

The students have launched some exciting projects, including an overnight stay at the school building, a reading night and helping to organize working groups for younger classmates. Homework supervision and supervision during the lunch break are also on the list of planned projects. The BDKJ team members were impressed by the variety and thoughtfulness of the ideas that the young people developed.

The participants themselves were consistently positive about the training. Many emphasized how important the practical work on the projects is to them and how they are motivated to actively contribute to the school community. The training not only prepares them for their tasks, but also promotes the young people's sense of responsibility and teamwork skills.

What defines today's youth?

In a world where young people are often under pressure, it is even nicer to see them come together in the form of commitment and creativity. This initiative shows once again that today's youth are not only ready to take on responsibility, but also have great potential to positively shape their environment.

For the organizers of this successful event, one thing is certain: not only is knowledge imparted, but an active contribution to the community is also made. This creates a cornerstone for strong and committed cooperation, which students can build on in the future when dealing with their classmates and the entire school landscape.
