Renovation of the bridge in Stockburg: communities demand improvements!
On August 11, 2025, Stockburg plans to renovate the bridge and further measures for rural development in the Schwarzwald-Baar district.

Renovation of the bridge in Stockburg: communities demand improvements!
In the small town of Stockburg, the local council has agreed on the need for important infrastructure projects. Again Black Forest messenger reported, the renovation of the bridge in the biotope and the improvement of the Stockwaldtalweg are at the top of the community's wish list. The local council also carried out drilling to examine the subsoil for bridge renovation, which is anything but commonplace.
The current situation surrounding bus connections in Stockburg is also causing discussions. Some children do not have access to the school bus due to inappropriate travel times. A suggestion from the principal of the primary school in Peterzell to postpone school times by ten minutes could help here. The local council has dealt with the issue intensively and sees scope for action.
Infrastructure projects in full swing
The planned construction phase for the renovation of the Stockwaldtalweg is scheduled to begin after the summer holidays. There is also a proposal for a bicycle repair station, although the location has not yet been determined. An internet connection for the community center is also required in the budget requirements. At the same time, investments should also be made in the equipment - a dishwasher is planned for 800 euros.
Another important construction project that was recently completed is the new buildings across the Brigach. Again South Courier reports, the construction of the “An der Mühle” bridge was a complex project that took seven years. Renovation costs of 200,000 euros were originally planned, but due to the inclusion of Deutsche Bahn in the planning process, the total costs climbed to an impressive 650,000 euros.
Mayor Michael Rieger explained the difficulties that arose when communicating with the railway and described the entire construction process as complicated. The new bridge is 5.55 meters wide and is now suitable for oncoming traffic. The funding structure is also exciting: Deutsche Bahn covers a third of the costs, the federal government covers half, and the state covers a sixth.
Funding for rural development
But what about supporting rural projects? The BMLEH emphasizes that spatial development is supported by various funding programs. The grants can cover up to 75% of the costs, which means great financial relief for the communities.
The aim of this funding is clear: to create regional foundations for rural development and to highlight existing potential by analyzing strengths and weaknesses. The inclusion of all relevant actors is an essential part of this process, which makes the projects in Stockburg all the more transparent.
A look at Stockburg shows that there is a lot going on in the small community. The planned measures could not only improve the infrastructure, but also promote social interaction. The coming months will show how these initiatives progress.
