Café Auszeit at the SRH Klinikum Sigmaringen: New opening hours for everyone!
The SRH clinics in the Sigmaringen district respond promptly to the wishes of their visitors. In the newly opened “Café Auszeit”, those responsible have adjusted the opening times to meet the needs of the guests. “Relatives want more time with their loved ones, especially after work,” explained Gisela Dürr, press spokeswoman for the SRH Kliniken. From October 1st, new times will apply: weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., on weekends and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This change became necessary after visitors found the early closing times to be inadequate. The café only opened in February of this year after the former bistro was closed during renovation work and the corona pandemic. Visitors can now look forward to a pleasant atmosphere that also offers fresh coffee specialties, baked goods, warm dishes, cakes, pastries and snacks. Regional foods are also used, which gives the concept an additional touch.
The ceremonial opening of the “Café Auszeit” on February 6, 2025 marked an important step in the clinic’s overall gastronomic concept. Managing director Sven Schönfeld emphasized how important a place for time out and enjoyment is for patients, relatives and employees in everyday hospital life. “Recovery promotes not only medical care but also a social atmosphere,” he added. As part of the overall concept, in addition to the café, there are also station kitchens with their own service staff in operation, which are intended to enable à la carte service. These new dining options are a much-needed improvement after years in which the hospital cafeteria was closed.
A place to feel good
The efforts were strongly supported not only by the administrative staff, but also by District Administrator Stefanie Bürkle, who emphasized the importance of a central location for the patients' recovery. The “Café Auszeit” is not only intended to be a place to linger, but also to promote exchange between relatives and doctors. A varied range of kiosks is also offered, ranging from hygiene products to magazines, so that visitors have everything they need at hand.
What exactly are the opening hours of the “Café Auszeit”? The details are listed here:
- Werktags: 7:00 – 18:00 Uhr
- Wochenenden und Feiertage: 11:00 – 18:00 Uhr
The new concept never ends in hospital catering. For example, the Vivantes Klinikum in Friedrichshain offers a wide range of services, ranging from lunch menus to fresh salad bowls. Their bistro is open Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and offers a similar service on weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This information shows how catering in German hospitals is constantly being optimized to make the stay pleasant for both patients and relatives.
Overall, the opening of the “Café Auszeit” at the SRH Klinikum Sigmaringen shows that awareness of the needs of visitors and patients is growing. Those in charge obviously have a good hand when it comes to creating offerings that not only delight the palate, but also contribute to recovery. We are excited to see how the concept will continue to grow in the future and be accepted by visitors.
