Accident in Feuerbach: City train collides with Mercedes – driver injured!
A serious accident occurred today in Stuttgart-Feuerbach. At around 12:25 p.m. there was a collision at the intersection of Weilimdorfer Strasse and Föhrichstrasse between a silver Mercedes and a U6 light rail train that was traveling towards Giebel. According to initial information, the 68-year-old driver was slightly injured. Paramedics immediately took her to a hospital to provide her with comprehensive care. The damage is significant: the Mercedes was totaled and had to be towed away, while the total material damage is estimated at around 45,000 euros.
The cause of the accident is clear: the driver tried to turn left when the light rail arrived. Unfortunately, that didn't end well. The platform and traffic lights were also damaged in the collision. The police are currently looking for witnesses to the incident and ask you to contact them on 0711/89904100. The accident has a noticeable impact on light rail traffic, making the situation even more complicated.
Another incident in Stuttgart
This accident is not the only one that has caused difficulties for the Stuttgart city railway in recent days. Last Friday there was an incident in which two light rail vehicles collided. Several people were injured, some seriously. One of the passengers had to be resuscitated, while a light rail driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver's tram was severely deformed at the front, which illustrates the dramatic consequences of the accident.
In total, there were 13 injuries in this incident, nine of whom were classified as “moderately injured.” Two other people sought medical treatment themselves. A head-on collision was initially suspected, but it was later determined to be a rear-end collision. An expert is currently determining the reason for the stop of one of the light rail vehicles. More than 100 firefighters and rescue workers were deployed, and the measures lasted until Friday afternoon and led to significant traffic delays.
Such accidents raise questions and make it clear that road users, whether on foot, by car or on the light rail, need to be attentive. The light rail traffic in Stuttgart remains tense and the authorities hope that the incidents will be clarified soon.
