Anne Geddes enchants Tübingen: A Christmas miracle made of babies!

In the heart of Tübingen, the famous star photographer Anne Geddes, known for her unique baby portraits, recently celebrated her gallery premiere in Germany. The exhibition “Until Now – Anne Geddes’ first museum exhibition” captivates visitors with over 150 works from four decades. Geddes, who gained fame with her imaginative and powerful images of babies, remained not only nostalgic but also creative. “The question is not if, but when” is how she expressed her plans to return after the audience immersed themselves in the fascinating world of her art. Loud Picture With this return, Geddes also returned to her beginnings in 1994, when she realized the Christmas project “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, which has since become one of her trademarks.

A central point in this historical exhibition is the representation of the vulnerability and uniqueness of the beginning of life. Geddes' photographs address the beauty of childhood and invite us to preserve it. Her images, created without digital post-processing, allow viewers to feel the babies' pure joy and innocence. In preparation for the Christmas project, Geddes experienced a state of emergency of six months of intensity, during which an “indescribable” stench of chicken feathers lying in the blazing sun was unavoidable, as she recalled.

Exhibition at NKT

In keeping with Geddes' art, there is another notable exhibition at NKT that deals with a similar theme. Here the work of Anne Geddes is presented in a particularly inviting setting. Divided into ten thematic areas, this exhibition offers something for everyone - from black and white series to portraits depicting children who have overcome serious illnesses. A specially produced film will also be shown on the upper floor, which provides personal insights into Geddes' life and attitude. It quickly becomes clear that her images are more than just art - they are a call for the protection of children, which she draws inspiration from while she lives in New York and, together with her husband Kel, campaigns internationally for the protection of children. You can find more information about this on NKT.

Art with Baby – A new concept

The importance of art for parents is also clear in the exhibition "MAMA. From Maria to Merkel" in the Düsseldorf Kunstpalast, which is fully booked. This innovative Art with Baby concept offers parents the opportunity to enjoy art while out and about with their little ones. This creates an inclusive atmosphere in which misperceptions and prejudices against mothers in public are also addressed. For example, the exhibition deals with the mixed reactions that 40% of mothers in Germany experience when breastfeeding. Here it becomes clear that the connection between art and motherhood opens up a space for dialogue and reflection. You can find out more about this at DW.
