Metzingen robot company Neura Robotics receives a 300 million euro order!
The future of industrial robotics is taking shape in Metzingen: The robot manufacturer Neura Robotics has received an impressive major order from Schaeffler, which is worth around 300 million euros. This lays the foundation for a close partnership that will set the course for future production and automation in many Schaeffler factories worldwide, reports SWR.
Neura Robotics, founded in 2019, has already brought over 600 employees on board in recent years and can look forward to a solid foundation: in January 2023, the company secured 120 million euros in investor money. Now Schaeffler, a well-known automotive and industrial supplier from Middle Franconia, is increasingly relying on the humanoid robots from Metzingen. These intelligent machines can lift heavy products and perform repetitive tasks efficiently with the help of artificial intelligence.
Insight into the partnership
As part of this promising cooperation, Schaeffler and Neura Robotics want to advance not only the delivery of robots, but also the development of key components. This involves innovative actuators that are to be deeply integrated into Schaeffler's global production network, such as Schaeffler communicates. The plan is to deploy several thousand humanoid robots in Schaeffler factories worldwide by 2035.
Particular attention is also paid to the requirements for long-term operation. Neura Robotics will provide some of the required lightweight and compact actuators. Both companies want to work together to generate application data in order to further train the robots and improve their capabilities. They call the intelligent ecosystem that they create the “Neuraverse”.
Evolution of robotic technology
The possible uses of these robots are diverse. They range from machine operation to quality control and welding work. Another exciting aspect is that the humanoid robots from Neura Robotics could also be used in the home or in healthcare in the future. They are designed to support people at work by relieving them of tasks that are either physically demanding or time-consuming.
In industry, the integration of these technologies is seen as the key to maintaining competitiveness. It remains to be seen how this cooperation will affect Germany as a business location; specifically, Schaeffler sees the opportunity to set new standards.
The developments around humanoid robots are only just beginning, but the partnership between Neura Robotics and Schaeffler clearly shows that a good path is being taken to exploit the industrial potential of tomorrow.
