New residential building in Tübingen: A home for the homeless is created!

In Tübingen-Pfrondorf, a remarkable project for people who are threatened by homelessness is currently being realized. A new apartment building is being built here and the GWG Tübingen cooperative is the client. This building will not only offer a roof over the head, but is also a showcase project in terms of sustainable building, since it is built with innovative wood modules from the Tübingen company Triqbriq

What makes Triqbriq so special? The building blocks are made of weak and damaged wood, which otherwise rotted in the forests. The use of these materials is bound by CO2, which would be released in the decomposition of the trees. As a result, the Triqbriq modules not only have a lower CO2 footprint, but also promote the saving of gray energy through their regional reference and environmentally friendly production. Not to mention that a floor of 500 square meters can be built in just two days - a clear profit compared to the usual 10 to 20 days in conventional concrete construction.

sustainability in focus

Incidentally,

The project is the first of its kind in Tübingen in which Triqbriq stones are used. Other buildings and even a supermarket with these innovative building blocks were built before. After completion of the apartment building, the GWG will rent the building of the city of Tübingen, which will then occupy ten apartments. A nice step towards social responsibility!

As part of an action day, numerous volunteers helped on the construction site, which shows that the local community is also behind this project. This cooperation is an important aspect that is often neglected in sustainable construction projects, but is crucial for social cohesion.

The future of building

The approaches that evaluate the sustainability of building materials and take into account the environmental effects in manufacture are diverse. As VDI knowledge forum is not only about the life cycle of the materials, but also about responsible resource acquisition and recycling of building materials. The focus is on a climate -neutral construction that not only protects resources, but also minimized the ecological footprint.

With innovative building materials such as the Triqbriq stones, not only is a resource-saving way, but also laid the foundation for a sustainable future. Initiatives that make the construction and renovation of living space sustainably make a significant contribution to environmental protection and social balance.

The project in Tübingen is a shining example of how modern architecture and social housing can go hand in hand. Not only a building is built here, but also a strong sign for social responsibility and ecological awareness.
