What is happening in the Dillgarten industrial area in Rietheim-Weilheim? A spectacular construction site has been causing a stir there for some time now. The Werma company, a manufacturer of signal lights, is expanding its commercial area and knows how to tackle large projects. The work is in its final phase and has already made impressive progress, reports Schwäbische.de.

A key element of this expansion is the creation of a new footpath and cycle path, which will make future walks and journeys through this busy commercial area much easier. This path will run through an underpass under the Bahnhofstrasse bridge - a valuable connection for fans of active transport.

Fascinating construction site

The Tuttlingen road construction company Storz is responsible for the implementation of this underpass. They have been on site since spring and have already mastered the first steps with flying colors. The culvert construction for the 32 meter long underpass has already been completed. 14 prefabricated concrete segments were put together here – a real engineering achievement! Six of these segments were lifted within one day using an impressive mobile crane with a lifting capacity of 250 tons, it is noted Schwäbische.de.

In order to meet the requirements, the precast concrete parts were manufactured in the Allgäu and then transported to Rietheim on a low-loader. Each segment has impressive dimensions: 4.6 meters wide, 3.7 meters high and 2.3 meters long, complemented by four slanted side panels. The current focus of the work is on sealing the structure in order to be optimally prepared for future use.

Future plans and infrastructure

But that's not all! The redevelopment of Bahnhofstrasse is also on the agenda. After sealing, these earthworks will be carried out in accordance with the construction schedule. The pedestrian and cycle path will be 750 meters long in total and will run parallel to the Plochingen-Immendingen railway line. Dirt and rainwater canals that have already been created, as well as seven large shaft structures that simply will not be visible, provide a comprehensive infrastructure.

Another exciting fact: Werma is planning to build a new headquarters in the commercial area in the coming years, which will offer an impressive 4,300 square meters of commercial space. The company is thus future-oriented and preparing for growth.
