Panama: The dream destination for emigrants remains unrivaled in popularity!

The sun is shining over the tropical rainforests of Panama, and it is becoming increasingly clear why this country is considered the best destination for emigrants. According to the “Expat Insider” report from the Inter Nations platform, which involved over 10,000 expats, Panama ranks third in the world when it comes to quality of life. Another reason to celebrate: 94 percent of emigrants are extremely satisfied with their new life in the heart of Central America, as the Schwäbische reports.

A paradise for expats

What makes Panama so attractive? The survey shows that, above all, the ease of integration, the high quality of life and the variety of leisure options are crucial. 35 percent of emigrants consider staying in Panama permanently. The cost of living is relatively low compared to income, allowing many to enjoy the benefits of a relaxed lifestyle. In addition, the country has an excellent infrastructure, which is particularly supported by the strategically important Panama Canal.

The capital Panama City is not only the economic but also the cultural center of the country, home to almost half of the over 4 million inhabitants. Here, colonial architecture meets modern skyscrapers, and the mix of cultures - Latin American, European and African - is omnipresent in the music, cuisine and traditions. Richard Halliburton once called Panama the “bridge of the world,” underscoring the country’s importance and influence.

Visas and immigration options

Another plus point are the numerous visa programs that make immigration easier. The Pensionado visa options are particularly attractive for pensioners, and can be applied for with pensions as low as USD 1,000. The Friendly Nations Visa, which makes it easier for citizens from 50 friendly countries, and the Qualified Investor Visa, which requires a minimum investment of USD 300,000, also enable many to move to Panama.

The bureaucratic hurdles are comparatively low, which is particularly advantageous for pensioners. 35 percent of emigrants are already retired. Those who live here can not only enjoy the beautiful beaches and impressive nature, but also benefit from tax breaks. Only the income earned in Panama has to be taxed, which solves many financing problems.

A country full of possibilities

But what would Panama be without its breathtaking landscapes? From white sandy beaches to lush rainforests to spectacular mountain landscapes, the country offers a variety of natural landscapes. The biodiversity is enormous and the climatic conditions are also pleasant thanks to the tropical climate with two seasons - dry season from December to April and rainy season from May to November.

However, according to emigrant information, some people tend to complain about safety concerns outside of tourist areas or the sometimes mediocre infrastructure in more rural areas. The language barriers cannot be ignored: Spanish is the official language, while English is mainly spoken in tourist areas.

Yet despite these challenges, Panama has an undeniable charm. With a lively expat community in regions such as Boquete or Coronado and the possibility of applying for a Panamanian passport after a few years, the country is one of the most sought-after emigration destinations.

Quality of life, a warm welcome from the locals and the high level of satisfaction of the expat community show impressively: Panama is really a place where many people say: “I’ll stay here!”
