Help for Oliver: Fundraising campaign already exceeds 30,000 euros!

The story of Oliver, a little boy from Königsbronn, is currently touching many hearts. He was seriously injured in an accident in Mexico and was stranded there with his family. A fundraising campaign was launched to cover the high costs of his treatment. Max Helmli, goalkeeper at TSGV Waldstetten, launched the “A Lot for Oliver” initiative, which has already generated significant donations. Schwäbische.de reports that the hospital bill for Oliver's urgently needed operation was a seven-figure sum, which has already been paid.

You can guess how Oliver's parents are doing. They sold everything they owned to cover the initial costs. Due to the medical history of lung cancer, there are further financial burdens to bear. Special follow-up treatments, amounting to over 30,000 euros, are expected in the near future. Surprisingly, the fundraising campaign has already raised over 30,000 euros, which is a ray of hope in these challenging times.

Active support from the community

Solidarity with the family is also reflected in numerous initiatives within the community. Deposit vouchers are collected in three Edeka branches to generate additional income for Oliver's treatment. Together with VfR Aalen and TSV Essingen, who offer their support through the sale of jerseys and scarves, the community shows great solidarity. The F-Juniors of TSGV Waldstetten even raised an impressive 1,100 euros by selling tickets.

A look into the future shows that many more actions are planned. A special evening in the well-known restaurant “M7” as well as other fundraisers at events are intended to collect even more funds for Oliver in the future. Helmli and his team have not yet set a deadline for the end of the fundraising campaign, leaving hopes for further contributions open.

The family needs help

Oliver's situation is particularly challenging because his health problems began before this incident. In June 2024 he was diagnosed with lung cancer, which had a massive impact on his life and that of his family. After chemotherapy and surgical removal of a lung, he suffered a fractured femoral shaft in June 2025, which led to the diagnosis of metastases. GoFundMe describes the family's resilience: They remain optimistic and use all possible treatment options, despite the financial burdens.

With Jasmin, Oliver's wife, quitting her job to care for him and their two young children, the family relies on Oliver's sick pay. The possibility of public funding exists, but is very limited. The situation shows how important support is for families like Oliver's. Whether for medical treatment or to cope with everyday life, the donations are extremely important. Any money left over should even be used for charitable purposes, which further strengthens the community spirit.

Together we help where we can and support the family in one of their most difficult phases. The situation highlights how closely health, financial stability and personal support are linked in a community. Promoting health and reducing financial inequality are necessary issues that not only concern Oliver's family, but affect us all. Lebensbrücke describes how growing health inequality in society brings with it major challenges. Together we can make a difference.
