Severe weather warning in Baden-Württemberg: Heavy rain and flooding are imminent!

In the coming days, residents of Baden-Württemberg should be particularly vigilant because heavy rain is on the way. In a recent report by SWR Current A warning is issued that significant rainfall is expected from Wednesday night into Thursday night. Forecasts from the German Weather Service (DWD) show that rainfall of 30 to 50 liters per square meter can fall in the northern regions, with local peaks of up to 100 liters.

In comparison, an average of only 53.5 liters per square meter was registered in Mannheim in September. Therefore, the risk of local flooding, flooded basements and other difficulties is real. Onlookers should therefore keep a safe distance, because the weather forecast not only predicts rain, but also thunderstorms. On Tuesday there will also be fresh autumnal temperatures of up to 15 degrees in the Mannheim metropolitan region, while it will only be around 8 degrees in the higher altitudes of the Allgäu.

Warning levels and weather conditions

The German Weather Service has issued a level three out of four severe weather warning for the administrative districts of Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. This warning is valid until Thursday morning, underlining the seriousness of the weather situation. According to the DWD, the coming weather situation will be influenced by a low pressure system over southern France and northern Italy, which will bring moist, cloudy and cooler air. The storm center also states that in areas such as the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb there are risks of storms, heavy rain and even black ice rain.

Advance warnings are issued up to 48 hours in advance when severe weather is possible, while acute warnings are considered certain. In the coming week, citizens can expect quite unpleasant weather conditions. Lows on Wednesday will be between 10 and 6 degrees and a moderate to strong north-easterly wind will exacerbate the wet conditions.

Current weather warnings

A few thunderstorms with local heavy rain are forecast for Wednesday night, especially in the northern parts of the country. The heaviest rainfall is expected on Wednesday afternoon and evening. This warning from DWD makes it clear that city residents should be vigilant, especially during peak periods of rain and thunderstorms.

So it remains exciting to see how the weather will develop in the next few days. The best strategy is probably to prepare well and follow current weather updates closely. Because as always, when the weather changes, it's better to be safe than sorry!
