Zollernalbkreis invests 2.9 million euros in school renovation!
There is a lot of activity surrounding school renovations in the Zollernalb district. The community is implementing its plans with full force and ensuring that the local educational institutions are brought into shape. Progress is being made not only in Hechingen, where the roof of the district sports hall was replaced at the beginning of the year, but construction work is also in full swing in Albstadt.
In Albstadt, the construction site setup began at the beginning of July, although some parking spaces had to be closed for the work. Demolition work is currently scheduled to be completed by the start of the school year. In wing B of the vocational school center, the third floor is being completely rebuilt. Not only are the science rooms for biology and chemistry being redesigned and better equipped, but other classrooms and sanitary facilities on the floor are also being renovated. The previously gloomy hallways will be refreshed and transformed into a friendly atmosphere. A roof terrace with an area of 140 square meters will also be part of the measures. The total costs of this extensive renovation work amount to 2.9 million euros and were approved by the district council in April 2025. The state is supporting this with funding of around 1.066 million euros, as [ Zollernalbkreis ](https://www.zollernalbkreis.de/aktuelles/nachrichten/arbeit+in+vollem+gange_+schulgebaeude+ Werden+saniert) reports.
Funding for school construction
The need to make schools modern and functional is a top priority not only in the Zollernalb district, but also throughout Baden-Württemberg. In 2023, the country provided a significant sum of 142 million euros for the construction and renovation of schools. These expenses consist of 76.5 million euros for new construction projects and 60.5 million euros for renovation measures. An additional 5 million euros were made available for full-time projects. A total of 43 new construction projects, 74 renovation work and 11 full-time projects benefit from this funding, as can be read on the website of the Ministry of Culture Baden-Württemberg.
The standard funding of 33 percent of the eligible construction costs is a decisive factor. Additional subsidies can even be granted for school construction projects that are relevant across local areas, which means that many communities are able to fulfill their obligation to create appealing learning environments.
