Meaningful touch: Discover aroma care for dementia sufferers in Aichach!
In the coming week in Aichach everything revolves around the senses and well-being: On Sunday, September 21st, the specialist office for caring relatives of the Aichach-Friedberg district office is inviting you to a special event entitled “Touch & Aroma Care for Dementia”. From 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Aichach district estate, participants will learn how gentle touch and aromatic scents can sustainably improve the everyday lives of people with dementia. This event is particularly valuable for relatives who want to have a pleasant interaction with the sick and at the same time would like to receive important information for support. According to Donaukurier, the event will include both an introductory lecture and practical exercises.
Christine Pehl, an experienced systemic coach and touch therapist, kicks things off. Her lecture entitled “Touch as a bridge – support and connection for people with dementia and their families” aims to help those present to discover touch as a healing element in everyday care and to apply it in concrete exercises. In addition to Pehl, Andrea Neukaufer, an experienced aromatherapist and facility manager, will also lead the event. She introduces selected essential oils and explains how they can be used to increase the well-being of those suffering from dementia.
Fragrances for the soul
Touch and aroma care are becoming increasingly popular - and not without reason. In fact, numerous studies show that aromatic scents can have a positive effect on memory and mood in people with dementia. In fact, it's not just the pleasant memories that scents evoke, but also the calming and relaxing effects that certain aromas bring. As Diakoneo reports, lavender, for example, can help reduce stress and create a calming atmosphere. Aromatherapy practitioners like Tatjana Wolf swear by the effectiveness of scents to relieve restlessness and promote a feeling of safety and security.
Aroma care is also a gentle method that does not have any side effects like many medications. It includes various types of treatment, from calming massages to relaxing baths to room scenting. Essential oils, which are obtained from natural plant substances, can be integrated into everyday life in many ways. A generous portion of eucalyptus to prevent colds, or the invigorating aroma of lemon to increase concentration - the options are diverse and enjoyable.
