Star singers start in Aichach: focus on education for children in need!
January 3, 2026 marks the celebratory start of the star singer campaign in the Aichach parish center. Under the motto “School instead of factory”, around 50 committed children go from door to door as the Three Wise Men to collect money for needy children in poor countries. The aim of this important initiative is to enable better education for children and young people. The Star Singer Campaign 2026 has a special focus: It is primarily committed to children in Bangladesh. An estimated 1.8 million children and young people are involved in work there, of which 1.1 million suffer from health-damaging and exploitative conditions. Commitment of the star singers
In Aichach, a considerable sum of around 20,000 euros is collected every year. Last year, more than 30,000 star singers across Germany took part and raised over 48 million euros for children in need. The carol singers can identify themselves with ID cards to prevent fraud, and an additional group tours households upon prior reservation. This shows how committed the community is, because many of the children involved are not altar boys or even Catholic, which gives the campaign a broad basis.
14-year-old Kerstin is taking part for the sixth time and emphasizes how much joy it brings her to be out and about with her friends and help others. In Friedberg, 67 star singers will bless the houses until January 5th and bring the traditional blessing “20-C+M+B-26” to the people in the region.

The star singers in Oberreifenberg, another place where the campaign takes place, have also chosen the motto “School instead of factory – star singing against child labor”. Here the entire community learns how important the donations are for the educational projects in Bangladesh. Older participants explain to those interested at the doorstep the purpose of the donation, which they learned in their preparation meetings. The star singers from Usingen are also busy on the road and collecting for the same goals. The campaign already received over 38,000 euros at the last event and has made a big difference Frankfurter Neue Presse reported.
While there was a dry spell in the number of participants during the pandemic, this year participation is high again and has reached pre-Corona levels. This shows that the commitment to the disadvantaged children in Bangladesh touches many citizens and they are happy to support the good cause. The star singers ask for a friendly welcome and generous donations in order to offer the poorest children in the world a perspective.
