Theft in the garden: Unknown perpetrator steals women's bicycle and more!
On the night of August 9th, a remarkable incident occurred on Schlotthamer Strasse in which an unknown perpetrator broke into the garden of a 28-year-old resident. Between 3 and 3:30 a.m. the unknown man stole various household items, clothing, a women's bicycle and three lamps. The Altötting police station has so far found no evidence of the perpetrator and is appealing to possible witnesses to call 08671/96440. The resident is visibly shaken by the incident and is hoping for relevant information.
While the investigation is underway on Schlotthamer Strasse, we take a look at the psychology behind such behavior. It is important to understand that criminal behavior often results from complex psychological structures. The theory of structural dissociation, developed in 2006 by Onno van der Hart, Ellert Nijenhuis and Kathy Steele, describes how traumatic experiences can fragment personality.
The theory of structural dissociation
Such experiences often lead to different internal personality structures. There are the Apparently Normal Parts (ANPs), which are responsible for daily functioning and avoiding trauma-related past memories, and the Emotional Parts (EPs), which focus on the traumatic experiences. This inner conflict can lead to those affected not only having difficulty processing emotions, but also possibly making impulsive decisions. As neuroimaging research shows, trauma can influence neuronal activation in certain brain regions, which can increase the reaction to stress and conflict.
In addition to educating about psychological trauma, it is also important to talk about the environment and its possibilities. Liesjärvi National Park in Finland could be an example of a place where people can find healing through nature experiences. The national park, founded in 1956, covers an area of 22 km² and is suitable for all age groups and also partially for people with mobility restrictions. Loop trails and scenic overlooks promote recreation and could provide a respite for the soul, especially for trauma survivors.

In order to counteract such serious issues and their effects on the lives of those affected, phase-oriented therapy is absolutely necessary. This is where approaches such as EMDR or sensorimotor psychotherapy come into play, which are specifically aimed at treating trauma.
The incident on Schlotthamer Strasse brings us to the harsh reality that not everything is as it seems in our community. While we curse the search for the perpetrator, we should also be more understanding of the complexity of human behavior. It is a call to look not only at crime, but also at the background that often accompanies it. We can only hope that such incidents do not become a habit and that the affected resident can soon live in safety again.
