Konstantin Wecker live: An evening full of music and wisdom!
Konstantin Wecker, the legendary songwriter from Munich, is on tour in Altötting on October 30th and in Rosenheim on October 31st. This concert series is entitled “Songs of my Life” and is a tribute to his impressive work, which includes more than 600 songs. The 78-year-old is known for his political and socially critical texts and captivates people with his unmistakable style. In his concerts, Wecker addresses the need to learn from children, something that is particularly close to his heart through the song “To My Children”. Rosenheim24 reports on his next appearances.
Even in his childhood, Wecker was influenced by his anti-fascist parents, which had a decisive influence on his political views. In a current interview, he is critical of the political developments in Germany, Austria and Italy and advocates for a society free of domination. “It’s important to raise your voice and show solidarity,” said Wecker.
The pianist and poet
Despite the challenges that life has presented him - including polyneuropathy that makes it difficult for him to play the piano - Wecker remains tirelessly active. He is working on regaining the ability to play in his left hand through physical therapy. However, these health setbacks have not changed his creative drive. Influenced by greats such as Franz Schubert and Giuseppe Verdi, Wecker sees himself as a “volcano at the piano,” as he is often described. SWR points out that his playing style is characterized by expressiveness and emotion.
His latest book, “The Love of Love,” highlights not only his addiction story, but also his spiritual search. Wecker has developed a remarkable understanding of seekers and often sees addicted people as vulnerable souls striving for love. At 78, he has now not consumed alcohol for three years, which enables him to face death soberly. This insight is the result of a long battle with alcohol and drug problems that have plagued him in the past.
A rebel remains active
As a passionate rebel and anarchist, Wecker knows how to transform his empathy for those who have failed into his artistic expression. He has been active in numerous political projects and has taken part in demonstrations such as the 2006 Antifa tour and “Artists for Peace”. Even though health problems affect his activities, he is already planning a tour in 2026, this time with Fany Kammerlander and Jo Barnickel. His commitment to peace and against fascism remains unbroken.
Tickets for the concerts in Altötting and Rosenheim are still available and offer fans the opportunity to experience the musical and poetic journey of one of Germany's most influential songwriters up close. Wecker remains a distinctive part of German musical culture, whose songs and messages will continue to be important in the future.
