Become a local and cultural guide: Training starts in Amberg-Sulzbach!

Something is happening in the Amberg-Sulzbach region: The adult education center (vhs) Amberg-Sulzbach is offering new, exciting training to become a local and cultural guide. This initiative is being implemented in close cooperation with the Obere Vils-Ehenbach Working Group (AOVE) and the district's tourism department. Anyone interested can register now to start their training at the end of September 2023 - a great opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich culture and nature of the district. Central Bavarian reports that the training lasts until 2026.

This raises the question: What awaits future local and cultural leaders? The training includes a total of 25 dates and 76 teaching units in which the participants are comprehensively prepared for all possible topics. This is about nature, culture and the environment. The first modules cover cultural basics, ranging from prehistory and early history to literature research and European art history. The region's exciting ore mining history is also discussed, with numerous historical sites such as old ore mines and hammer lords' castles being brought into focus. In the second module, participants can deepen their knowledge of renewable energies and sustainability, which is definitely a contemporary topic. Upper Palatinate current highlights that the first event is planned as a free introductory evening.

The route to the roots of the region

The Amberg-Sulzbach district offers a variety of regional features that are worth discovering. Geographically speaking, the foothills of the Upper Palatinate Forest extend to the east, while the Jura landscape enchants to the south and west. Beautiful juniper heaths and poor grasslands in the Lauterach Valley as well as the lowlands of the Hahnbach Basin are just a few examples of the impressive flora and fauna that local and cultural guides will be able to convey in the future. Hahnbach informs that the number of active local and cultural leaders in the district is decreasing. In order to counteract this trend, the vhs and its partners are starting future-oriented training.

If you are interested, you should hurry up: The cost of the training is 150 euros per participant and is due during the first module. Registration is possible directly via the vhs Amberg-Sulzbach website at www.vhs-as.de. This training offers an excellent opportunity not only to gain valuable knowledge, but also to actively contribute to promoting the region's cultural heritage and to inspire visitors about the many treasures and stories of Amberg-Sulzbach.
