Duck racing for a good cause: SKF and foster parents ceremoniously honored!

The weekend in Amberg, where the Round Table 69 Amberg organized a happy summer and thank you party to mark the 30th anniversary of the Social Service for Catholic Women (SkF). Not only was it for a good cause, but numerous foster families were also duly acknowledged.

The festival took place in the idyllic beer garden at the Waldhaus, where many faces of foster parents, helpers and sponsors could be seen. The Round Table covered the costs of drinks, coffee, cake and grilled food, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The highlight of the event was the handover of donations amounting to 5,069 euros, which was presented by club president Dr. Robert Winkler handed it over to the SkF chairwoman Marianne Gutwein.

Volunteering and support

The use of foster parents has been of central importance to the SkF for over two decades. Last year, the SkF looked after a total of 105 care relationships in the district and 27 in the city of Amberg. Mayor Michael Cerny and Thomas Schieder, head of the youth welfare office, underlined the high value of the work of foster parents in their speeches. Gutwein not only thanked the Round Table for its support, but also highlighted the outstanding commitment of the foster parents who work for the well-being of children every day.

A special highlight were the numerous activities for the children, which ranged from face painting to making buttons and viewing fire engines. To ensure that those with a sweet tooth got their money's worth, the Saller innkeepers provided fresh ice cream to make faces smile.

Promoting volunteer work

The topic of volunteering is playing an increasingly important role in the region, especially in nursing. Like that Federal Ministry of Health reported that the number of people in need of care is increasing, which increases the need for dedicated nursing staff and volunteers. Funding from nursing care insurance supports various initiatives that are intended to recognize and relieve this valuable work. This includes, among other things, voluntary care offers and support for carers.

With projects such as the duck race, which has already collected over 200,000 euros in donations for charitable causes in the region, the Round Table 69 Amberg makes a significant contribution to improving the living conditions of many people.

The summer festival in Amberg was not just a celebration, but also a strong sign of community and cohesion, which is of great importance in the region.
