Erlanger University Days 2025: Movement in focus for health and climate!
Today, November 7th, 2025, interesting minds are cavorting in the baroque ambience of Ansbach Castle. District President Dr. Kerstin Engelhardt-Blum invited people to the opening of the 43rd Erlanger University Days. Among those present are Mayor Thomas Deffner and important representatives of the Friedrich-Alexander University (FAU) Erlangen-Nuremberg, such as Prof. Dr. Siegfried Balleis, Chairman of the University Association, and Laura Kneppe from FAU. The main theme of this year's events? “Movement” – a principle that runs through all areas of life.
Movement as a central theme is no coincidence. “It is not only sporty, but also elementary in nature and technology,” emphasizes Engelhardt-Blum. The University Days take a look at the relevance of exercise in various life situations and disciplines, be it in relation to health or the environment. The lecture series, which has already become a tradition, includes a total of six exciting lectures by top-class scientists from FAU and Ansbach University.

Admission to all lectures is free, which makes the events particularly attractive for the public. An ideal opportunity to find out about new findings and exchange ideas with scientists.
The relevance of movement
In times where health and environment are at the forefront of public concern, it is particularly important to address issues surrounding exercise and its effects. Prof. Dr. Andreas Hirsch, Vice President People at FAU, will introduce the event with a welcome speech that illustrates the importance of these topics. The idea of seeing exercise not just as a sporting activity, but as an integral part of our everyday life and our science, is also a central point.
The relationship between exercise, health and climate is highlighted in many lectures and shows how closely our quality of life is linked to active lifestyles. The entire program is also available online and offers residents of the region the opportunity to find out more information outside of lecture times oberpfalzecho.de.
The organizers have shown a good hand here: the mix of science and the public, the free lectures and the interactive program will certainly be well received by the population. Anyone affected by the challenges of modern life should not miss this opportunity. So, on to the next event and get involved!
