Kleeblatt sweeps Ansbach 6-2 in the friendly – a goal festival in Dietenhofen!

The anticipation for the new season is increasing at SpVgg Greuther Fürth. After an intensive two weeks of training, the Clover Leaves played their second friendly match in Dietenhofen against regional league team Ansbach on Saturday. In the end, the people of Fürth were able to celebrate a clear 6-2 victory. The first 45 minutes in particular caused a stir.

Before kick-off, the Fürth fans were treated to anthems and a warm welcome, while the stadium announcer repeatedly switched between the names “Spielvereinigung Fürth” and “SpVgg Greuther Fürth”. In the first half, coach Thomas Kleine relied on a mix of established players and fresh blood, with only four newcomers making appearances, including goalkeeper Sebastian Jung, who made his debut in the Fürth jersey.

A goal festival in the first half

The first few minutes were not very pleasant for Fürth; the team gave the opponent some good chances. But then the offensive exploded: Hrgota gave the clover leaves a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute, followed by Klaus, who increased it to 2-0 in the 27th minute. König scored in the 30th minute to make it 3-0, Futkeu converted a penalty to make it 4-0 in the 40th minute, and just before halftime to the 45th minute, Olesen put the icing on the first half with the 5-0.

In the second half, the coach had his players switch to ten positions, with only Jung remaining in goal. But control seemed to be lost - Ansbach took advantage of the break in the game and gave the Fürth defense a few sleepless minutes. In the 53rd minute, Srbeny hit the crossbar and Massimo also narrowly missed the target. Ten minutes after the restart it was Higl who made it 6-0, but as the game progressed the Ansbachers came up and Hayer reduced the score to 1-6 and made it 2-6 shortly before the end. There was cause for concern for coach Kleine: “We gave the opponent too many chances in the second half.”

More test games planned

The team will soon test themselves again, as two more tests are scheduled for January. On January 6th, 2025, SpVgg Greuther Fürth will face FC Bayern Munich, followed by a duel with TSV 1860 Munich on January 11th. The latter will take place without spectators for organizational safety reasons, but a free live stream will be provided on the Kleeblatt YouTube channel. The team can't wait to prove themselves against these well-known opponents in order to be prepared for the coming season.

In summary, it can be said that SpVgg Greuther Fürth started the test match phase with a strong performance against Ansbach. The focus is on the friends of football and the common goal of continually improving. The team still has a lot of work to do, but the initial results are impressive.
