Fire departments in the Aschaffenburg district: Several operations in the morning!

In the early morning hours of December 8, 2025, the fire brigade in the Aschaffenburg district was heavily challenged. The operations spanned various locations, including several stations on the busy A3, which is one of the longest motorways in Germany, with an impressive total length of 769 kilometers. This route, which runs from the Dutch border to Austria, is often plagued by serious accidents, as documented by the police.

The first alarms came shortly after midnight. At 4:23 a.m. the fire alarm system in the south tube of the noise protection enclosure near Goldbach went off. In no time, the volunteer fire departments from Goldbach, Hösbach and Waldaschaff set off, supported by the district fire council and district fire inspector. Due to a technical defect in the tunnel technology, the site was quickly handed over to the motorway maintenance department. Almost two hours later, at 6:27 a.m., the same tunnel system reported again. Here too, there was no risk of fire, but the complete closure of both tunnel tubes led to noticeable traffic disruptions.

Operations in the district

However, the emergency services had not yet been alerted. At 7:33 a.m. the fire department was called to a truck fire behind the Weibersbrunn driveway. Fortunately, it turned out that the truck had simply broken down due to a technical defect in the engine. In this case, too, there was no fire, but there were still traffic delays.

Parallel to the operations on the motorway, the fire department in Winzenhohl was alerted at 7:00 a.m. when a gas alarm went off in a private property. The volunteer fire departments from Hösbach-Bahnhof and Winzenhohl were quickly on site, and fortunately there was no gas concentration in the basement. The site was finally handed over to the gas supplier.

Traffic accidents cause short-term disruption

Another alarm sounded at 8:51 a.m. in Alzenau when a traffic accident was reported on Junkerstrasse. A motorcyclist was injured and was already being treated by the emergency services. The fire department secured the scene of the accident and took care of the resources. The police then investigated.

The last operation of the morning occurred at 9:40 a.m. in Stockstadt, where a single Kia Seat was involved in an accident on the B469 in the direction of Mainhausen. The driver was uninjured, but the fire department had to secure traffic and clean the road. A total of three vehicles with 14 emergency services were deployed here.

Overall, it shows that the fire brigade had a good hand that day and had to intervene in several operational scenarios. The events illustrate the challenges that volunteers regularly face in the area of fire and disaster fighting. A big compliment to the emergency services who can react quickly and effectively in such hectic moments.
