Father reports: daughter strong and supported after a knife attack!

five months after the tragic incident in Aschaffenburg, in which a mentally ill man from Afghanistan changed the lives of two people, the father has expressed one of the surviving victim. His two -year -old daughter was seriously injured in the attack, but the father reports that she was doing well according to the circumstances. At the beginning, the little girl had great difficulty falling asleep and suffering from fear. In the meantime, however, there is a little anger that indicates a progress - albeit slowly. In order to think less about the traumatic events in January, the girl has already changed the crib, which was an important decision for the family. The father praises the solidarity in Aschaffenburg and emphasizes how neighbors, friends and acquaintances support the family in this difficult time.

"I often think of the two victims of the attack," says the father. In this incident, a two-year-old boy and a 41-year-old man were injured, who stood in front of the children. The crime occurred a few weeks before the Bundestag election in February, which caused enormous sensation in public. The attacker, who should no longer have lingered in Germany, had already come into focus due to his psychological impairments.

commitment to affected families

In times like these, it is important that there are aid organizations that support people in need. In the Aschaffenburg area, the Weisse Ring has around 250 members who actively work to help victims of crimes. Your goal is to increase the number of members and to win other citizens as well as companies or associations as support members. A monthly contribution of 2.50 euros can make a big difference, and the volunteers are trained internally in order to offer the victims optimal help. Anyone who is interested can become an online member and thus become part of an important network.

The need for this support becomes particularly clear when you look at the health risks for refugee people who often suffer from psychological stress. According to the Robert Koch-Institut has about every fourth young person in Ukraine that suffers from the consequences of the war Support. In Germany, 10% of the population reported on the use of psychotherapeutic and psychiatric services in the past 12 months. The Covid 19 pandemic also affected many refugees who could not find access to their required help.

Overall, it shows that the provision of psychological and psychotherapeutic services is of extremely important in the integration and well -being of refugees. The ongoing discussions about simplified approaches to regular services in some federal states could help to reduce the barriers that keep many people affected from the necessary treatment.
