Augsburg surprises: From Grantler to insider tip in a city comparison!

Today we take a look at Augsburg, a city that not only stands out for its charming old town and idyllic canals, but also does surprisingly well in a city comparison. The Brandmeyer city brand monitor study, which is carried out every five years, impressively shows that Augsburg is on the way to changing from a “Grantler image” to an insider tip. In the survey, in which 10,000 people took part, the city made it to 12th place in the overall ranking, improving by two places compared to 2020. This puts Augsburg between Leipzig and Düsseldorf and even ahead of Berlin, which takes 14th place. Hello Augsburg reports on the increasing popularity, especially in the categories “good reputation” and “attractiveness for families”, where Augsburg took a respectable 7th place in each case.

What drives this positive perception? The survey by Brandmeyer Markenberatung GmbH, sponsored by Innofact AG, examines numerous aspects such as quality of life, economic strength, cityscape and family friendliness. Augsburg scores particularly well among 30 to 49-year-olds, in whose age group the city achieved 9th place overall. This shows that the cultural offerings and living conditions in Augsburg seem to be quite well received and appeal to a broad age group.

Augsburg's charm and future prospects

The city is valued not only for its historical features, but also for its good location near the Siebentischwald. This green oasis promotes an active lifestyle and contributes to the high quality of life that many of those surveyed emphasize. They provide their feedback, which was collected as part of the online survey, which is based on subjective impressions. It is noteworthy that the city is attracting more and more families with its attractive housing options and is therefore well positioned for the future.

Augsburg has continued to develop in recent years and appears to be well on its way to establishing itself as a real alternative to larger cities such as Hamburg, Freiburg and Munich, which occupy the top three in the city branding ranking. Whether this remains sustainable will also depend on future developments in the areas of the economy and quality of life.

Nevertheless, Augsburg remains known as a city with a special, sometimes described as odd character. For many people, this “Grantler” mentality is a distinctive feature, which makes them seem all the more likeable. However, the progress in the perception of the city shows that Augsburg is in tune with the times and is constantly developing.

As the comparison shows, the potential for Augsburg lies in both improving the quality of life and strengthening the economic environment. The city has already established itself as a popular place to live and could attract even more people in the coming years who are looking for the advantages of a green city and a balanced quality of life.

The next step for Augsburg could be to further raise awareness of its many advantages and increase the city's attractiveness. The foundation for this has been laid, and it will be exciting to see how the city will develop in the next few years!
