Markus Feulner becomes U23 coach: New era begins at FC Augsburg!

Markus Feulner, who most recently coached FC Augsburg's U19s, will be the club's new U23 coach for the 2025/26 season. This decision follows the appointment of Tobias Strobl, who will now work for third division club SC Verl. Feulner brings a lot of experience, both as a player and as a coach, and is a real FCA native. He played 204 games for Augsburg in the Bundesliga and can look back on a successful coaching career that began in 2017.

Last season was particularly successful for Feulner as he led FC Augsburg's U19s to win Group E in League B of the DFB youth league. The team also takes part in the DFB Junior Cup. Managing director Michael Ströll emphasizes the importance of the internal solution for promoting one's own talent and explains that Feulner has the best prerequisites to develop the club's oldest talents in the Bavarian Regional League. Claus Schromm, the head coach of the youth division, also emphasizes Feulner's good work over the last three years.

A new start for talent

Feulner is motivated and looking forward to working with the young players. His first session with the U23s will take place on June 24th. Specific information about the preparation plan, the appointment of assistant coaches and the replacement of the U19 head coach position will be announced at a later date. According to Feulner, the new role offers an exciting challenge that he is happy to take on in order to help develop young talent.

The commitment to the young coaches is not only viewed positively in Augsburg itself. The DFB and the DFL have launched a project for individualized trainer development, which aims to provide targeted further training for those looking for trainers between different license levels. This ambitious project aims to create an optimal learning environment that supports both coaches and players in their development. In combination with a well-thought-out coaching structure at FC Augsburg, the club is perfectly positioned for the coming challenges in the Bavarian Regional League.

The anticipation for the new season can already be felt in Augsburg. The U23 has the potential to attract attention under Feulner's leadership and establish itself as an important part of the club structure. It remains exciting to see which talents will develop in the coming months and enrich FC Augsburg's professional environment.

The next steps are clearly planned and the support for Feulner and his coaching team is there. It will be interesting to see how the developments in the training and youth sector at FCA continue and what talents are produced under his aegis.
