Bamberg's city center shines: new poster campaign inspires visitors!

Things are getting colorful in Bamberg! On October 26, 2025, the *campaign “BA: Inner City with a Face”* was launched, which is celebrated as the crowning achievement of the “Mitte.Bamberg.2025” funding project. This initiative is supported by 36 businesses from the catering, retail, service, hotel and market industries. Birgid Bischoff, the owner of Kaufrausch, and her employee enthusiastically hung up the first poster in the city center. The posters and individual postcards were delivered by Simone Ludwig-Konggann and Diana Mehlhorn from the economic development agency.

Economic advisor Dr. At the opening, Stefan Goller emphasized the uniqueness of Bamberg's city center, which always delights visitors with its historic atmosphere and modern shopping opportunities. The old town is so compact that many sights, such as the impressive Imperial Cathedral, can be easily reached on foot. Bamberg is not only known for its beer culture; Personal contact with the shops is also very important.

Together for a lively city center

The campaign includes a poster and postcard campaign in which individual quotes from those involved are displayed in stores. Selina Erhard from *Little Seahorse* enthuses: "Bamberg. A city where the shops are run with love!" Her colleague Kristina Berßelis from *colorful Chameleon* adds: “Shopping locally makes you happy.” Lars Baldinger from *Le Baldinger* emphasizes: “Together we make Bamberg come alive.” The quotes reflect the passion with which local entrepreneurs run their businesses.

The “Mitte.Bamberg.2025” project, which ends at the end of November, aims to improve the quality of stay in the city center for visitors and residents. Previous campaigns, such as the *Inner City Fund 2023 and 2024*, the *Tanzboden am Maxplatz*, or the *Water playground at Maxplatz*, have already made an important contribution to this. Ruth Vollmar, head of economic development, emphasizes the intensive dialogue between traders and the administration.

An important funding project

The campaign is financially supported by the federal program *Sustainable Inner Cities and Centers (ZIZ)*. This shows how important it is to promote local businesses and increase the attractiveness of the city center, even in times of online trading and global competition. The posters that are distributed to businesses by the economic development agency are intended to appeal to both locals and tourists.
