On September 28, 2025, the 9th Women's Film Festival opened its doors at the Lichtspiel Kino&Café Bamberg. Until October 5, 2025, film enthusiasts have the opportunity to enjoy works by female directors and women in leading roles. The festival aims to increase the visibility of these powerful stories and bring to the screen the challenges many women face. The initiators, including the Catholic Workers' Movement (KAB) and the Catholic German Women's Association (KDFB), have put together a varied program that is sure to captivate film fans.

Event details and directions
The cinema is located at Untere Königstrasse 34 in Bamberg. Entry costs a friendly 7.50 euros, and discounts only cost 6.00 euros. Further information can be found on the cinema's website, where the exact schedule can also be found. It promises to be a week of inspiration, thought and stimulating discussion, and not just for women.
Last week, Ekin Deligöz, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, attended the opening of the festival in Cologne and a high-ranking visitor is also expected in Bamberg. This shows how important the topic is and that the event also has supra-regional significance. The Women's Film Festival is not only a symbol of relevance in society, but also a platform for exchange and understanding about the different facets of female realities.
