Something is happening in the area of sustainable tourism in the beautiful city of Bayreuth, and the local gastronomy has a particularly green touch. As the Bayreuth Marketing & Tourism GmbH (BMTG) reports, hotel guests can now obtain comprehensive information about vegan and regional dishes. The absence of plastic packaging at the breakfast buffet is another highlight that environmentally conscious guests will appreciate. There is also safe and free bicycle storage and electric charging stations available - a real win-win situation for all bike lovers and environmentally conscious travelers.
The BMTG has also developed a questionnaire to assess the sustainability of hotels, retail and restaurants in Bayreuth. A total of 21 accommodations, 37 retailers and service providers as well as many restaurateurs have already taken part in the survey. The results can be viewed free of charge on the BMTG website. A true Eldorado for everyone who wants to be on the safe side when it comes to environmental awareness.
The SustainabilityZEIGER – real-time innovation
The BMTG places a particular focus on the Sustainability ZEIGER, which shows in real time how sustainably a company is positioned. Using a three-part color model (red, yellow, green), consumers can quickly and easily identify where they can consume in an environmentally friendly way. In addition, a selection filter is provided that leads to retailers who, for example, offer fair trade products or refill water bottles for free.
However, the SustainabilityZEIGER is not a competitor to official sustainability certificates, but is rather a valuable guide for consumers, locals and guests. A clear advantage in times when the demand for sustainable options is constantly growing.
Vegan cuisine and climate protection
In this context they also win ORGANIC HOTELS increasingly important. These have existed for over 20 years and rely on pioneering spirit, sustainability and climate protection. In the restaurants of the organic hotels you will find a large selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes - a contribution to climate protection, because eating less meat has positive effects on our planet. Here, primarily regional and seasonal products are served, which reduces the ecological footprint and avoids transport emissions.
The CO2 balance of the companies is also taken into account, which gives guests a good feeling when enjoying themselves. The organic hoteliers are creative and cook both traditional and fabulous new vegan dishes.
The trend in tourism
