Photo competition: Your vision for a liveable city of Bayreuth!

A lot is happening in Bayreuth when it comes to the quality of life in our cities. Regional management has an exciting one Photo competition brought to life where creative minds can contribute their ideas about a livable environment. The deadline to submit photos is August 31st and invites all citizens to share their perspectives. A maximum of three photos may be submitted per participant, and an expert jury will select the twelve best entries for an upcoming exhibition. The three best entries will also be able to win photography prizes. The exhibition will be on display in the fall at RW21 and at the adult education center.

But what makes a city worth living in? The exhibition “Livable City – Innovative Danish urban development meets Franconian visions”, which took place in February RW21 took place, brought fresh ideas to the table. Exciting approaches to improving urban life were presented using 28 projects from Denmark from the Royal Danish Embassy and the Danish Institute of Urban Planning. The show was accompanied by a series of workshops, tours and hands-on activities that gave citizens insights into innovative concepts.

Urban development events

The period of lectures and workshops from the beginning of February to the end of March, with highlights such as the “City Center Future Workshop 2040” and an architecture lecture at Jean Paul, was one of the key moments in which many citizens were able to get actively involved. These events promoted exchanges about relatable topics such as age-appropriate living, educational opportunities and social interaction, all of which set standards for an environment worth living in.

The accompanying program and the projects from the exhibition show how important the active participation of city residents is. “Max 48 goes RW21”, for example, invited people to talk to the “Four Heads for the City Center” team about their own ideas and wishes. Consultation hours in the district office were very well received, and the multiplier tour on February 5th was also a complete success.

The voice of citizens counts

The “Livable City” initiative aims to collect citizens’ opinions and include them in urban development. The photo competition and the various events offer a platform to collect visions and steer them in a positive direction. Together with the support of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, it shows that it is worth contributing your ideas.

The quality of life in our cities is influenced by various aspects. From IT infrastructure to mobility and social interaction: the challenges are diverse, but so are the opportunities. The trend shows that creative ideas are needed to increase urban quality of life. Cross-departmental collaboration, like this SmarterCity Karlsruhe initiative is intended to help develop sustainable and implementable solutions.

The events and competitions in Bayreuth are a call to everyone to take an active part in shaping their city and to exchange ideas. So if you haven't submitted yet, you should hurry up and record your view of the city. Because it will remain clear in the future: feeling good in the city depends on all of us.
