An exciting blitz chess tournament was held in the Oberkotzau sports center on Friday, in which 20 chess players took part. This event attracted interested parties from the area and offered an exciting format: all participants played in the “everyone against everyone” sliding system over 19 rounds. Of course, the new Fideblitz rules were applied to ensure fairness and quality of play. Mirko Fuchs acted as tournament director, while Rudolf Fraas took over the organization.

Particularly noteworthy was the strong representation of participants from Oberkotzau, followed by a solid selection of players from Kirchenlamitz. After the first half of the games, a clear favorite was already emerging: Felix Schindler led the table and impressively showed that he has a good knack for blitz chess. The experienced players in the group took the opportunity to collect points over the course of the tournament and to be inspired by the good moves of their fellow players.

A harmonious tournament

Despite the intense competition, the tournament ran harmoniously and without any notable disputes. This shows that the chess community gets along well and that the passion for the game united everyone present.
