Maisel & Friends: Second award for Best Visitor Attraction!

A real treat for beer lovers is currently taking place in Bayreuth. Maisel & Friends was awarded the title “Visitor Attraction of the year” at the prestigious World Beer Awards in London for the second time in a row. This award not only recognizes the craftsmanship of the brewery, but also the all-round successful experience offered to visitors on the brewery grounds. The heart of the attraction is the popular Maisel’s beer experience world, which was expanded this year to include the newly introduced Braukunstwelt. Here, guests learn everything about the art of brewing beer and can immerse themselves in the diverse flavors.

The World Beer Awards are characterized by an international tasting competition that selects the best beers from all recognized beer styles. In the “Icons of Beer” competition, the attractions that offer visitors special added value on the topic of beer are on the agenda. The award is a real accolade for German brewers and underlines the high quality and popularity of beers from Germany.

German winners in focus

But that's not all that's exciting about the beer landscape in Germany. As part of the World Beer Awards 2025 The German winners were also announced. This celebration took place during “Brewer’s Day” at the Kulturbrauerei in Berlin.

The winners received valuable medals and titles that allow them to compete against other countries in their respective categories. The German winners this year are:

  • Hirsch Kristall Weisse: Best German Kristal Wheat Beer
  • Pott’s Landbier: Best German Vienna Lager
  • Wolf Gang Black IPA: Best German Black IPA

Positive feedback also came from Anita Ujszaszi, director of the World Beer Awards, who praised both the event and the award-winning products. The deadline for submissions is now over and the team is already busy evaluating the beers. Next year's global winners will be dated August 13, 2025.

Global challenges in the shadow of successes

Despite this positive news about the beer world, many are concerned about global events. Latest news from CNN report on the tense situation in the Gaza Strip. The World Health Organization (WHO) has released alarming information: its staff residence and main camp in Deir al-Balah were damaged by an attack by the Israeli military. This represents a serious step backwards in the already critical humanitarian situation.

The WHO speaks of a systematic pattern of destruction of health facilities. In these difficult times, support for medical teams and hospitals in Gaza is severely limited, further exacerbating the already precarious care of the population. Women and children were in direct danger during the attacks. The WHO advocates for the integrity of its personnel, the release of those held and unhindered access to humanitarian aid.

The Bavarian art of brewing and the challenges in crisis areas therefore stand in stark contrast to one another. While beer and enjoyment are at the forefront of an event in Bayreuth, the global news speaks a different, worrying language. It is to be hoped that greater efforts will be made in the future to ensure peace and support for all people.
