Newly qualified nurses celebrate their graduation in Schweinfurt!

Things could hardly be better in the region when it comes to fresh nursing staff! On August 13, 2025, 42 new specialists successfully completed their examination. These are 24 qualified nursing specialists and 18 nursing assistants who were trained at the “Carereer” vocational school for nursing in Schweinfurt. The festive exam ceremony took place in the Schweinfurt Hospital, which, together with the Haßberg Clinics, is the school's sponsor, as np-coburg.de reports.

The graduates completed their practical training in ten different hospitals and care facilities in the region, including the important Leopoldina Hospital and other institutions such as the Domicil senior care home and the AWO Schwebheim outpatient care facility. Many of them immediately start permanent employment - often even in the institutions where they received their practical training.

Insights into the achievements

Training the nursing staff was anything but easy - but the effort pays off! The generalist nursing training, which combines nursing care for the elderly, the sick and children, now takes place as a three-year full-time training course. This training reform was brought into force by the Nursing Professions Reform Act of 2017, which combined the previously separate training paths, as bpb.de notes.

Not only are the graduates particularly proud, but also the school management: Headmaster Johannes Papke and his deputy Katja Weber emphasized the attitude and commitment of the future nursing staff. Mayor Sebastian Remelé and District Administrator Wilhelm Schneider also congratulated the new cadres and praised their outstanding achievements.

Special awards

At today's celebration, it was particularly recognized that three graduates with grades between 1.0 and 1.5 were awarded by the Free State of Bavaria: Lea Kaufmann, Helena Just and Emma Kilgore. The latter also received recognition for its outstanding civic engagement. Such honors are not only a nice gesture, but also show how high the standards in training are and what great performance the graduates have achieved, reports [mainfranken.news](https://mainfranken.news/2025/03/25/ein-bedeutender-meilenstein-frisch-gebackene-pflegekraefte- Feiern-ihr-examen/).

Nursing training is taking a big step into the future – with a full cohort, high quality and an urgent need for skilled workers. The next spring course at the vocational school will start with 60 new trainees, which shows that the region is actively responding to the challenges in the health sector and is already taking the specialists of tomorrow by the hand.
