Massive SEK operation in Bad Wörishofen: man arrested!
In the early evening of October 15, 2025, there was a massive police operation in Bad Wörishofen, which attracted the attention of many passers-by. A special operations command (SEK) from Munich and a support command (USK) advanced into the city center to storm a residential building on Promenadestrasse. According to the [Augsburger Allgemeine](https://www.augsburger- Allgemeine.de/mindelheim/bad-woerishofen-sek-grosssatz-sek-usk-stuermt-wohnhaus-in-bad-woerishofen-polizei-heute-112567943), the operation was the response to a threat situation that had previously given indications of a source of danger in the house.
Around 40 police officers were on duty when they surrounded the building with numerous vehicles around 7 p.m. Eyewitnesses reported an impressive contingent on site. The police had emphasized that the situation did not pose any danger to the surrounding buildings and that no injuries had been reported up to this point. A man was taken away during the attack, while the details of what happened inside the house initially remained unclear, as did the [NP Coburg].
The background to the operation is unclear
The police announced that they would release a statement in the evening to provide further information on the background to this operation. As of 8:15 p.m., no additional arrests had been announced, although a search of the home and vehicles was underway. A police dog was also on site to secure possible leads. This type of operation highlights the challenges facing police today, particularly when it comes to violence against police officers.
A current balance sheet from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) shows that the situation in Germany has not developed for the better. On average, 290 police officers are exposed to violence every day. The numbers speak for themselves: police officers were victims of attacks in around 106,000 violent acts in 2023, and the number of threats and physical attacks is also at an all-time high, as Tagesschau reports.
The situation in Bad Wörishofen should be viewed as part of a larger problem that has shown a worrying trend in recent years. Unions are calling for increased action and “tough consequences” for attacks on police forces. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has already pointed out planned changes to the law that aim to better protect officials and equip them with modern equipment.
Regardless of the current challenges, Bad Wörishofen remains an attraction for guests from near and far with its popular facilities such as the thermal baths, the spa park and the aviation museum. Nevertheless, incidents like this cast a shadow over the otherwise attractive city.
