The tranquil town of Neustadt bei Coburg was startled on Monday, November 3rd, 2025 by an unpleasant incident in the local hardware store. A 37-year-old man, who apparently did not feel that he was being served quickly enough, got into a violent conflict with the deputy branch manager and filled the situation with a large number of attacks, as infranken.de reports.
At 3:30 p.m. there was an incident on Halskestrasse that not only brought the employees of the hardware store but also the police to the scene. The man hit the woman, pulled her hair and hurled insults. He also wreaked havoc by damaging a door, a window and an outdoor shelf. The total material damage was estimated at around 4,000 euros.
From escape to arrest
After the rioter fled the scene in a car, a police manhunt began. They located him on Gartenstrasse. It turned out that the man was under the influence of alcohol and showed symptoms typical of drugs. During the investigation, he became increasingly aggressive and attacked the police officers. Even the officers themselves fell victim to his attacks.
During the arrest, the police officers handcuffed the man and took him to the patrol car, where he continued to be aggressive and intentionally hit his head against the roof of the vehicle, which also caused damage to it. He also expressed worrying thoughts by stating that he wanted to harm himself. This frightening turn of events led to him being admitted to a psychiatric hospital after a blood draw.
The consequences of the incident
Overall, both the hardware store employee and a police officer were slightly injured as a result of the incident. The police have now started an investigation to clarify the legal action that should be taken against the man. He is held responsible for, among other things, resistance, assault on police officers, bodily harm, threats, insults and damage to property.
