Christmas markets in Bavaria: enjoyment and tradition from November!

The anticipation of Christmas is gathering in Bavaria and it is becoming increasingly festive! The first people have been looking forward to the contemplative time and the associated Christmas markets since October. These not only offer mulled wine and bratwurst, but also conjure up a cozy atmosphere with their special flair.

The Mercury highlights that several markets are opening their doors early this year. The Bayreuth winter village in Upper Franconia opened on October 15th and will operate until December 31st. Here visitors can expect rustic wooden huts, mulled wine pavilions, live music and regional food. The focus is on avoiding the crowds during Advent and taking advantage of the mild weather conditions.

The stalls not to be missed

Things get particularly festive in Nuremberg when the famous Christkindlesmarkt opens its doors on November 28th. Fabulous stalls, a children's Christmas area and countless culinary delicacies can be found here. And the Munich Christmas market at Marienplatz also starts on November 24th and promises to offer over 30 different markets.

The Coburg Winter Festival, which began on October 31st, ensures authentic enjoyment. Here on Albertsplatz, in front of the historic town hall, the focus is on regional suppliers and creative drinks. If you look further into the country, you will also find many other markets that will make every Christmas lover's heart beat faster.

A look at the diversity of Christmas markets

  • Rothenburg o. d. Tauber: Reiterlesmarkt (21.11.
Adventwochenende).
  • Coburg: Nostalgischer Weihnachtsmarkt auf dem Marktplatz (28.11. – 23.12.2025) mit Coburger Bratwurst und einem Kinderkarussell.

  • Regensburg: Drei Weihnachtsmärkte und ein Krippenweg (Christkindlmarkt: 24.11. – 23.12.2025).

These and other Christmas markets, over 400 in total in Bavaria, offer a first-class opportunity to get in the mood for the festive season and enjoy regional delicacies. As a special attraction, the Winterworld Motorworld in Munich has been attracting visitors with its motto “Driving Home for Christmas”, where groups can find space in cozy huts and a Ferris wheel has been waiting for them since November 7th.

In any case, anyone who wants to experience the warm lights and joyful atmosphere of the markets should take advantage of these opportunities. And don't forget: From November 13th, new Christmas markets in the Free State will open almost every day!
