Wild pee and forgotten pizza: Curious Friday in Upper Franconia!

A look at the current events in Hochfranken shows that unusual situations have arisen again today, October 11, 2025. The police have had their hands full, and some incidents have a little less to do with good behavior than many would like.

The first case that attracted attention was the detention of a 35-year-old man from Rödental. He was found sleeping and helpless on the station forecourt on Friday at 3:30 p.m. After he was woken up, it quickly became apparent that he was heavily intoxicated. After a short conversation, he refused any medical help and just wanted to go home. But then a spicy situation arose: he relieved himself in public on the station forecourt. This led to the police stepping in and taking him into custody. He is expected to be charged with an administrative offense for “wild peeing”, although in Germany such behavior is considered an administrative offense and the fines can be between 35 and 5,000 euros - and it is not uncommon for them to be men who are not ashamed to do this after a night of drinking, like bussgeldkatalog.org reported.

Fire in the oven and celebrations that get out of hand

Another bizarre incident occurred on Friday evening in Wüstenahorn when the fire department was called because of a supposed emergency. At 10:45 p.m. an unconscious person was reported and smoke caused a stir. But when the fire department forced entry into the apartment, it turned out that a 34-year-old man had only been dozing because he was drunk. The smoke came from a forgotten pizza in the oven. Reports of administrative offenses and the costs of the rescue operation are now expected here too.

Things were a little more turbulent at a private party that ended abruptly when a 22-year-old Ukrainian guest arrived with his six friends. A stone thrown by an unknown guest injured the organizer, causing the uninvited guests to whisper and then return to attack two other revelers. The police are investigating dangerous bodily harm, and a 22-year-old Ukrainian woman who became aggressive in this context was taken into custody.

Crime and animal protection

Things were far less celebratory at a hypermarket in Kronach, where two unknown people stole groceries worth 300 euros on Friday evening. They only paid for one drink while the remaining items found their way into the bags. The police are asking for information to help solve the shoplifting.

And while Upper Franconia is all about parties and drunken gentlemen, there was also a frightening incident in which a 58-year-old man in Kulmbach killed a pigeon with a kick. Passers-by held him until the police arrived, and a complaint under the Animal Protection Act is also expected here. This shows once again: There is a lot to do for law enforcement officers - from wild peeing to serious crimes.

For the investigation, the officers are asking for information in all cases - be it about the unscrupulous shoplifters or the incident with the pigeon: Anyone who has seen anything should call 09261 / 503-0.
